Problems we’re solving

Data is hard to find, use, and connect

We provide a repository for the world’s free and commercial data labeled by content, meaning, and source.

Data is expensive to share

Our repository lets users sell their commercial data on terms they choose and at a price they set and share their free data without having to bear the burden of hosting and bandwidth charges.

Data goes stale

By allowing users to share and sell data we incentivize them to gather, maintain, and curate it.

No dataset is an island

Data becomes radically more valuable when it’s put in the context of a web of connected knowledge.

Our team

Infochimps has three founding members. Dhruv Bansal is a PhD candidate in the Physics Department at UT Austin. Joseph Kelly owns a general contracting firm based in Austin. Flip Kromer is a researcher in physics at UT-Austin with a background in Education, Physics and Computer Science.

  • Nobody relishes swimming around in rich data more than we do.
  • Have experience in building and running a profitable business.
  • We have a remarkable mix of temperaments and talents.
  • Physicists and Alaskans can do anything.
